The Omkareshwar Temple, also known as the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, is one of the most revered and ancient Hindu temples in India. Located on an island in the Narmada River, this temple holds a significant place in the hearts of millions of devotees is an essential pilgrimage site for followers of Lord Shiva.This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, one of the principal deities in the Hindu pantheon. A symbolic manifestation of “Om” formed by the curves of Narmada makes the sacred site even more ethereal. Omkareshwar is an epitome of the years-old Hindu traditions and timeless religious influence of Shiva on his devotees . This temple is the only place where lord shiva appeared in an Omkara Swaroop . Near the Omkareshwar Jyotirling temple on opposite river bank, Mamleshwar Jotirlinga Temple can be visited. There , two rives namely , Kaveri river and Narmada river meets each other . The temple’s location on an island in the Narmada River adds to its spiritual significance. Aartis, or religious rituals involving the offering of lamps and prayers, are an integral part of the daily routine at Omkareshwar Temple. The temple conducts several aartis at different times of the day. Some of the significant aartis are: Mangal Aarti at 5:00 AM , Rudra Abhishek at 12:00 PM , Sandhya Aarti at 6:00 PM , Shayan Aarti at 9:00 PM.Special occasions of Omkareshwar Mandir are Mahashivratri , Kartik Purnima , Shravan Month , Narmada Jayanti , Deepawali , etc.  Omkareshwar is situated on the Mandhata Hill (ancient name: Shivpurialso known as Omkareshwar in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh state in India. It is about 16 km from Barwaha in Madhya Pradesh.The nearest airport and railway station to reach the temple is Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport (IDR) and Indore Railway station , respectively , in Indore at a distance of about 80 kms away from the temple,, from where Shubh Yatra provides you transport facilities to reach the temple. Also it provides Hotel rooms, breakfast, lunch , dinner and sightseeing . The other way to reach the Omkareshwar temple is by boat. A single craft charges rs50 per person (one way)  to take devotees from Gaumukh Ghat to Mandhata Hill. People can also do snan in the narmada river and chant at the ghat .
